Highlights from the FD & KX Meetup in Glasgow

Last week, I had the opportunity to join colleagues, partners and members of the kdb community at our FD & KX event in Glasgow, hosted at Morgan Stanley’s offices. It was a welcome chance to reconnect in person, share industry insights, and explore the latest developments in time-series and AI technology.

Event Overview

The evening began with a warm welcome and registration, followed by Laura Kerr (KX)sharing an inspiring update on the growth and energy of the KX community to our Glasgow audience. Connor Gervin (KX) provided updates and preview demos of KDB-X, giving attendees a look at what’s next for high-performance data analytics. Matthew Clark (Morgan Stanley) closed out the presentations with a technical deep dive into the speed and efficiency of kdb, which sparked thoughtful questions and discussion.

We also heard from the Morgan Stanley team, who shared their perspective on recent work and innovation in the field. The Q&A session allowed for open dialogue, and it was encouraging to see participants engage with both the presenters and each other. We especially enjoyed the strong interest and engagement from the University of Glasgow lecturers and students in attendance.

Networking and Collaboration

After the formal agenda, many attendees continued the conversation at Hope & Vincent. These informal discussions are often where new ideas and connections are formed, and it was great to see the community exchanging views and experiences.

Looking Forward

Events like this remind me of the value of bringing people together to share knowledge and collaborate. We were thrilled that the event was completely oversubscribed, and we already hope to organize a follow-up session for everyone on the waitlist who wasn’t able to make it this time!
