A true FinTech pioneer, Brian Conlon established First Derivatives (FD) in 1996 from his mother’s spare bedroom with a loan of £5,000 from the Newry Credit Union. From those humble beginnings, it grew to become one of the top 3, all-time best performing companies listed on AIM and now has offices globally in every major financial capital.
Brian began his career working in risk management at Morgan Stanley, London and he went on to join SunGard where he implemented financial technology solutions in over 60 banks before bringing all of that experience together to create First Derivatives. This expertise along with the tenacity and drive of the team formed the basis of our reputation for successful delivery.
Due to Brian’s strategic vision and leadership, First Derivative continues to be a leader in its industry. The company is committed to building upon his legacy and will continue with the drive, ambition, and determination with which he inspired those around him. His sudden passing left not only a massive void in his family’s life but within First Derivative. For the significant impact he made in the FinTech industry and to the island of Ireland, his extraordinary accomplishments will always be remembered
