Last month, our Spain team gathered in Madrid for the most recent First Derivative Connect. This summer setting was our first in-person reunion in almost two years! For a team that works fully remotely, the chance to come together face-to-face brought a new level of excitement.
Consultants and developers from across Spain made the journey, turning the event into a true celebration of connection and team spirit. It was especially meaningful to welcome new team members, who introduced themselves and quickly became part of the group. A lively team quiz, featuring fun questions about our colleagues, helped break the ice and set a positive tone for the evening.
This year’s meeting was more than just a team catch-up, it also served as an alumni reunion, with former colleagues joining us for dinner. Their presence was a testament to the strong sense of community that First Derivative fosters, one that extends well beyond employment.
The business portion of the evening was led by Karen OBeachain, who hosted an open Q&A session. She addressed important topics such as the ongoing acquisition process, our growing pipeline of new projects, and the future direction of our business across key clients. AI was a recurring theme, reflecting the increasing interest from clients in AI-driven solutions within the financial technology sector.
A special highlight was a video message from our CEO Andy Colhoun, who joined us remotely. His message, delivered in Spanish, added a personal touch that resonated with everyone in the room and reinforced our sense of unity across borders.
After the meeting, the team headed into the city centre for dinner, where conversations and connections continued in a relaxed and social setting. It was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen relationships across projects and geographies, and to celebrate the unique culture that makes our team so special.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Madrid and to those who continue to make First Derivative a vibrant and supportive community.
Thanks
