    Lead Business Operations Specialist

What is your role at FD, and what do you love to do outside of work?

Over the past five years at FD, my role has evolved into acting as the connector across clients, delivery, finance, and legal. I focus on removing operational blockers and driving revenue acceleration for key clients like Goldman Sachs, NatWest, and Rabobank. It’s fast-moving, and no two days are the same. Outside of work, I’m big into wellness and staying active. I run my own wellness events for women, creating spaces for people to connect, move, and meet new people. What started as a bit of a passion project, has now turned into my own business and wellness community, which is really rewarding. I’m also a big traveller and always planning the next trip. Having that balance outside of work is really important to me.

What made you want to join First Derivative?

FD was one of those companies I kept hearing about before I even applied. I knew a few people already working at FD, and they were all incredibly sound and easy to get on with. That gave me a really strong sense of the culture, and made it feel like a place I’d genuinely enjoy being part of, not just somewhere to work. I've now ended up meeting some of my best friends for life here. The opportunity to move to other locations was also a huge highlight and moving to London has been incredible!

How has your job changed or grown since you first started here?

Massively. I joined straight out of university, so I was definitely learning on the job from day one. I started in graduate recruitment, travelling to career fairs and speaking to students, which was great fun—but also meant being thrown into the deep end and having to quickly get over my fear of public speaking presenting to lecture theatres about FD. From there, I moved into resourcing and business operations, and over time my role has become much more commercial and client-facing. Each step has brought new challenges and played a key part in my professional development.

Which offices or teams have you worked with, and what was your favourite setup?

I’ve been lucky to work across Newry, Belfast, and now London. London is definitely my favourite setup. Being based in Devonshire Square adds a lot to that, lunchtime Pilates or yoga sessions and massage are a great perk. However, you still can't beat a Newry office day and a wee Measured coffee..

What is the best career advice you’ve ever been given?

Probably the fact that everyone’s winging it a little bit—some people are just better at hiding it. Imposter syndrome is something almost everyone experiences at some point, especially when you’re stepping into something new. It’s easy to overthink, compare yourself to others, or feel like you should have everything figured out, but the reality is most people are learning as they go, even if they don’t show it. If you feel out of your depth, it usually means you’re growing and pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone. The key is not to get stuck in your own head, focus on taking action, asking questions, finding yourself a mentor and trust that confidence builds over time. At the end of the day, you can only do your best.

What has been your favourite project or team memory at FD so far?

It's hard to pick one... probably the JP Morgan Challenge in Battersea Park. It was such a fun day getting everyone involved, a bit of healthy competition, and then a well-earned few drinks afterwards.
