As someone from Newry, FD was always on my radar. It’s a company that’s grown on a global scale while staying deeply connected to its roots—and that really stood out to me. I’d always seen it as somewhere dynamic and ambitious, and when the opportunity came up to join the team, it felt like a natural fit. Since then, I’ve had the chance to get involved in a wide range of projects that have allowed me to explore different areas of the business and gradually shape the direction of my role.
I joined FD as a Marketing Consultant, and since then things have moved pretty quickly. From the beginning, the role was hands-on, and I quickly found myself involved in lots of different areas of the business. As time went on, I took on more responsibility and moved into the Managing Consultant role I'm in now. It's definitely been a bit of a learning curve at times - but that's also what has made it so rewarding. There's been a good balance between clear direction and room to adapt, and I've learned a lot along the way and I'm excited to see what the next chapter brings.
Each day looks a little different than the last, which is one of the things I enjoy most. One day I could be in the depths of planning for an event, the next I'm pulling together award submissions or refining internal communications. There's a lot of variety, and that's what keeps it interesting. Being part of a smaller team means you naturally wear a few different hats - but on the other hand, it means there's more space to be creative!
Don’t wait until you feel 100% ready—some of the best experiences come from stepping outside of your comfort zone. You learn more by doing than by overthinking, and it’s ok to figure things out as you go.
